Reverse hearing loss through Traditional Chinese Acupuncture

By June 22, 2019No Comments

Hearing loss is a common affliction experienced by many people today, which can cause inconvenience and negatively affect quality of life.

Hearing loss may be caused by family history or genetics, nerve damage related to environmental factors, working conditions or simply getting older.

If you have experienced any or all of the symptoms below you may benefit from treatment with Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM):

  • Feeling that others’ speech is muffled
  • Inability to understand words amid background noise
  • Tendency to listen to media at higher volume than others
  • Finding yourself commonly requesting others to repeat or speak more slowly
  • Feeling that it is too difficult to engage in conversations

According to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), hearing loss is caused by an imbalance of the Yin-Yang of the internal organs. As we get older the meridians related to hearing degenerate. Due to accidents or persistent noise in our environment, nerves can be damaged.

Acupuncture has been proven to be a useful treatment to balance and remedy this condition. It supports the flow of blood and chi originating from the organs through the channels. It also promotes rejuvenation and flow of nutrition to those areas which may have been damaged or become degenerated over time.

For those who are experiencing hearing loss, a course of treatment is typically administered daily or twice-weekly over a period of approximately ten sessions.

The treatment plan includes acupuncture and magnetic therapy as well as the administration of Chinese herbal medicine. To supplement acupuncture, we use special tools which promote blood circulation and positively change the electrical charge of the cells of the blood, allowing them to flow more easily and absorb more oxygen. This enhances the rejuvenation of the organs and meridians involved in the hearing function.

Many patients have reported significant improvement in hearing ability following this treatment, including being able to hear more depth and clarity of sounds and speech.

I’m so grateful to have found that Dr. Maxine is able to use acupuncture to help me with my hearing loss.

I have experienced a slow decline in my hearing, I’m in my late 50’s. I especially struggle in noisy or sound places like restaurants, bars and MTR stations. I have had to resort to reading lips. In my vain effort to not have to get hearing aids, I decided to give acupuncture a try. I have to say that after the first session I have a noticeable difference. So far I’ve had 5 sessions and I am really noticing a difference. It feels good to know that I’m reversing any damage I may have had to my years from noise pollution rather than just getting hearing aids that do not actually improve my hearing. Thank you Dr. Maxine. I’m very grateful to have found you.

Cindy, late 50’s
